For Yamaha Motor Europe N.V., located at Schiphol-Rijk in the Netherlands, we are looking for a Privacy Officer in our Compliance Department.

About the role:

You will be part of the European Head Office Compliance team and report to the Privacy Lead. Compliance Department is responsible for Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) at Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. (YME). Working together with your manager, you will oversee overall management of privacy and data protection related activities. Our department is responsible for establishing data protection and privacy programs at YME and its branches/subsidiaries. You actively manage and monitor company-wide privacy compliance, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and advise on necessary changes to ensure compliance with both national and European privacy legislation.

You will need to build strong relationships and work closely with YME Senior Management, Divisions and Departments of YME, as well as having regular contact with our parent company in Japan. This role is pan-European, also supporting branches and subsidiaries with any privacy and data protection related queries, ensuring compliance with national and European privacy legislation. You are expected to work independently (under the supervision of your manager) and bring added value through analytical thinking, advising the business on requisite privacy changes, while being aware of strategic and legislative developments.

Your responsibilities:

1. Privacy & Data Protection

  • Responsible for implementing and advocating for privacy and data protection related rules, policies, and procedures amongst YME management and employees based on national and European privacy law requirements.
  • Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs), maintaining our Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) and responding to Data Subject Requests.
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of 'privacy-by-design' and 'by-default' in various products and services, IT systems, platforms and applications, projects, and other new initiatives, working with cross-functional teams at YME;
  • Reviewing and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) signed by YME;
  • Investigating and reporting potential data breaches to authorities as needed;
  • Monitoring and reporting on privacy risks and the effectiveness of controls;
  • Conducting trainings and awareness raising activities related to privacy and data protection;
  • Support branches and subsidiaries in any privacy and data protection related issues;
  • Monitoring legislative developments, trends, and future changes in the privacy environment of relevance for Yamaha.

2. Various supporting tasks within the scope of Compliance

  • General support to the wider Compliance team, such as creating presentations to local and senior management, drafting user-guides, and various ad-hoc tasks;
  • Proactive member of the Compliance and Privacy Team who contributes to Yamaha's compliance culture.

What do you bring?

  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience as a Privacy Officer or similar role;
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree;
  • Excellent command of professional English in writing and spoken - other European languages are a plus;
  • Deep knowledge of European privacy legislation including, in particular, the GDPR and E-Privacy Directive;
  • Knowledge of upcoming legislative developments including the Data Act, AI Act;
  • CIPP/E, CIPM certification or similar preferred;
  • Experience working with data protection tools or platforms advantageous.
